Colombia veteran Freddy Rincon set for playing return

Colombian veteran Freddy Rincon sensationally revealed Thursday his desire to return to playing soccer, 8 years after retiring from the game.

The 46-year old midfielder has said that he wants to play for America de Cali who currently feature in Colombia’s second division.

Rincon began his playing career in 1986 and went on to play for Real Madrid, Brazilian giants Corinthians and Italian outfit Napoli during his successful career.

Now it seems the Buenaventura-born player is set for another late swan song.

Rincon said. ‘I will return to play. It is not necessity but to I want to play to please my children.”

Obviously there will be some sections of the media who may question whether Rincon, who featured in three World Cups for Colombia, can keep pace with the modern game.

However he is determined to prove any critics wrong and show that he still has something to offer.

“It’s a challenge, and it will not be easy. I’m not a loser. I’m going to prepare well to play. I have my head in the right place from the first moment I start training,” he said.
