The Colombian soccer federation has accepted the resignation of Hernan Dario Gomez weeks after the head coach admitted to striking a woman in a Bogota bar.
Gomez became the center of controversy earlier this month after hitting a woman who reportedly had been insulting him over soccer-related issues.
The coach handed in his resignation days after, but soccer federation Colfutbol refused to accept this.
However, after Gomez on Thursday said his resignation was irrevocable, federation president Luis Bedoya told press that Gomez would be replaced.
In addition to Gomez’s personal resignation, Caracol Radio reported that Gomez’s technical team will also be quitting, including his assistant Leonel Alvarez and soccer trainer Elkin Sanchez.
According to Colfutbol president Luis Bedoya, the federation will be looking for a replacement of Colombia’s technical team in the coming days.
