Colombia safe for air travel: Authorities

Colombia is safe for air travel, claimed the director of Colombia’s air transportation authority during the Third Pan American Security Summit in Bogota, Radio Caracol reported Thursday.

In the last year there were no recorded air-travel related deaths, according to Santiago Castro, the director of Civil Aeronautics.

” said Castro adding that Colombia was the only country in Latin America who voluntarily asked to be audited.

The Federal Aviation Administration in the United States has placed Colombia under Category one, the highest category for meeting ICAO standards, indicating a high level of safety for North American airlines to fly into the country.
