Colombia represented at Venice Film Festival

Colombia is being represented at the Venice Film Festival by Oscar-nominated actress Catalina Sandino.

Sandino has attended the event, which runs from August 28 to September 7, due to her role in the film “Medeas”, a feature length drama directed by Andrea Pallaoro.

The actress has appeared in several films, including “Eclipse” – from the “Twighlight” Saga, “Love in the Time of Cholera” and “Maria Full of Grace”, for which she won a Silver Bear award for best actress at the 2004 Berlin Film Festival and also received an Oscar Nomination.

Italian-born Pallaoro described Medea as an “observational and intimate character study of a family and their environment that rejects pre-existing structural formulas to find its own freedom from the manipulations and limitations of conventional storytelling.”

Sandino plays the part of Christina, a woman who finds herself slowly retreating into her own life while losing familial connections with her husband and five children.

It is the 70th anniversary of the Venice Film Festival.
