Colombia releases video of feared FARC commander

Colombian authorities on Tuesday released a video of “El Paisa,” the feared leader of the FARC’s Teofilo Forero Column that is held responsible for several high-profile attacks and the recent kidnapping of four Chinese oil workers.

El Paisa, whose real name is Hernan Dario Velasquez, is seen in the video celebrating his birthday with other guerrillas.

According to authorities, the video was confiscated after security forces seized one of El Paisa’s alleged camps.

The released video is the second of El Paisa found by authorities within a year. Last year, a video of the FARC commander was found in which he instructed his men about the kidnapping of Caqueta governor Luis Francisco Cuellar, who was found dead shortly after his kidnapping.

The fugitive FARC commander was sentenced to 40 years in jail last week for the bombing of exclusive Bogota club El Nogal in 2003.
