According to National Police Commander Jose Roberto Leon Riaño, police were able to seize 70 rifles, 66 grenades, 22 handguns, 5 machine guns, ammunition cartridges and communication devices, after intense fighting in the center of the Valle del Cauca department.

“Several special police units initiated a pursuit this weekend against the band ‘Los Rastrojos’ in Andalucia and other municipalities in the center of Valle [del Cauca] ,” said Leon Riaño.

Following the confrontation, the alleged members of the drug gang sought refuge in the mountainous zone under the protection of local units of leftist guerrilla group the FARC.
