Colombian ‘drug trafficker’ captured in Venezuela

In a joint operation authorities on Sunday arrested a drug trafficker and gang leader wanted by Interpol in the northwest of Venezuela.

Rigoberto Arias Castrillon, alias “Rigo,” leader of the gang, “Los Rolos,” was the target of a month-long operation. He was captured in Venezuela’s northeastern state of Falcon.

Speaking with the state-run television station VTV, Venezuelan Interior and Justice Minister Nestor Reverol labelled Rigo “a dangerous narcotrafficker, wanted with a blue notice by Interpol for drug trafficking, hired killing, extortion and kidnapping.”

Colombian police were offering a $65,000 reward for information leading to Rigo’s capture. Reverol did not elaborate on whether Rigo would be extradited.
