Colombia market update – May 25, 2011

The Colcap index was down slightly Wednesday, 0.20%, as the weight of Ecopetrol, Bancolombia, and Gruposura brought the index lower. Volume kept up pace as COP$160 billion traded, led by new issue AviancaTaca.

Colinversiones agreed to acquire the assets of hydro electric plant San Andres for COP$6.6 billion. The generation capacity of the plant is 19.9MW and operates on the San Andres River in Antioquia.

The peso was nearly unchanged today and closed at 1,831.71.
