Colombia is ready for the 2015 Pan American Games: Shakira

Shakira joined Colombia’s campaign to host the 2015 Pan American Games announcing on Tuesday that it was a great opportunity for the country to unite for national progress.

The Barranquilla born superstar made a video statement which will be presented to the Assembly for the Organization of Pan American Sports which will take place next Friday in Guadalajara, Mexico, reported newspaper El Tiempo on Tuesday.

Colombia’s capital, Bogota is looking for a favourable decision when the organization vote on which city will host the games. The decision stands between Bogota, the Peruvian capital Lima and Toronto, Canada.

In addition to Shakira, other notable Colombians such as the singer Juanes and footballer Carlos Valderrama have supported the country’s candidacy for the games. According to the games official website, 95% of Bogota citizens also support the prospect of the games being hosted in their city.

The Assembly next Friday will be attended by the Mayor of Bogota, Samuel Moreno, and the Colombian Olympic Committee president, Baltazar Medina.
