Colombia asks US help to stop arms smuggling

Colombia’s National Police asked the United States to help put an end
to the illegal smuggling of firearms from the U.S. to Colombia.

National Police Director Oscar Naranjo told Radio Caracol Thursday that the request to the United States is seeking the “acquirement of measures to combat crime that threatens security and democracy in several countries of the continent.”

After the capture of crime bosses ‘Don Mario’ and ‘Douglas’ the armed dispute over the control of illegal businesses newly arose, Naranjo said.

The Police Chief returned to Medellin last Tuesday to lead the fight against criminal gangs of drug traffickers.
