Colombia army discovers marijuana in military aircraft

The Colombian army said Thursday it has discovered 55 pounds of marijuana in a military aircraft.

Acting on intelligence reports, soldiers found the drugs Wednesday in an aircraft parked on a military base some 50 miles southwest of the capital Bogota.

The army described the incident as an “embarrassment” and vowed to pursue a thorough investigation.

Authorities stated soldiers in the 17th Mobile Brigade possessed the marijuana, and that the army would “take criminal and disciplinary measures” against those involved.
