Clashes between ELN and Águilas Negras leave 10 dead and displace 200 in Chocó

Heavy fighting between ELN guerrillas and paramilitary forces of the
Águilas Negras have killed at least ten civilians and displaced 200 in
Chocó, the Departmental ombudsman said Thursday.

Ombudsman Víctor Raúl Mosquera denounced the violence in the Alto Baudó region on W Radio. “the clashes resulted in the displacement of 200 people. Furthermore there’s an unknown number of people killed. We have had three deaths confirmed, but we believe more than ten were killed,” he said.

According to Mosquera, the violence started Saturday. He says the army is now entering the region, allowing more clarity about the exact number of deaths.
