Police report success of Christmas Security Plan

Colombia’s police report that between Monday and Wednesday they captured 2,462 offenders, 3.2 tons of drugs, and 494 firearms as part of this year’s Christmas Security Plan.

The Christmas Security Plan, initiated on November 29, aims to ensure the safety of Colombians and tourists during the festive season and to prevent crimes in major cities.

The police say that in Bogota several operations led to the arrest of 394 criminals, and the police seized 20 firearms and 168 kilos of drugs.

Between Monday and Wednesday the police say they arrested 15 terrorists, 56 members of criminal gangs and 2,391 criminals who were involved in theft, illegal possession of weapons and drug trafficking.

The website also says that the police seized 2,944 kilos of marijuana, 192 kilos of cocaine used to make crack cocaine, 56 kilos of crack cocaine, 27 kilos of heroin, and 11 kilos of cocaine.
