ChocQuibTown unveils epic new album

Colombia’s salsa and hip-hop fusion group ChocQuibTown have unveiled their new album, “Eso Es Lo Que Hay” (This is What There is), bringing the typical Colombian coastal flavor mixed with the eccentric and unique beats that set the band apart.

Hailing from the western coastal department of Choco, members Goyo, Slow, and Tostao have come out with a 10-song CD that is both a representative and innovative mix of the body-shaking rhythms the Pacific coast is known for.

In addition to three bonus tracks, the disc features guest musicians Zully Murillo, one of Choco’s most renowned vocalists, alongside urban music legend Tego Calderon on ChocQuibTown’s hit “Calentura” (Hotness), and salsa star Luis Enrique on the song “Puro Mani.”

The first single from the album, “Tu Cancion” (Your Song) can be downloaded for free via the groups’ social network profiles. On its first day of release the song had more than 50,000 downloads.

ChocQuibTown has become increasingly popular in Colombia and worldwide in recent years. Their hit song “De Donde Vengo Yo” (Where I’m From) won a Latin Grammy in 2010 and a Grammy nomination in 2011.
