CR charity drive to bring Christmas to 2,500 children

Readers of Colombia Reports have donated nearly $3,000 for a Medellin project to provide food to children of displaced families.

The project, “Angeles de Medellin,” is run by American Mark Kaseman, who has been active as a voluntary English teacher in the “El Pinal” slum for years and tries to help local children by offering food packages and a toy for Christmas.

With the collected money, Kaseman told Colombia Reports on Thursday that he has enough to provide 2,500 children with vegetables, fruit, rice, “panela” and a toy.

However, despite the success of the charity, hundreds of children in the slum will still have to do without food during Christmas. Because of this, we call on you to please donate if you haven’t done so already. Every cent will be spent on the children. All overhead costs are covered by local donors and businesses.

Donations can be received until Friday afternoon.
