Chavez hopes to meet soon with Santos

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Sunday he hopes to soon meet with his Colombian counterpart Juan Manuel Santos.

According to Chavez, the two countries’ foreign ministers have worked out everything but the exact date of the summit that is expected to be held in the Venezuelan capital Caracas.

“I gave him an invitation to come to Venezuela, which President Santos accepted. We haven’t picked a date, but that’s a matter of finding agreement. Colombia and Venezuela continue to work together,” Chavez said, while voting in his country’s parliamentary elections.

The governments of Santos and Chavez are in the process of re-establishing diplomatic and trade ties and improving bilateral security cooperation, which was reduced to practically zero under the administration of Alvaro Uribe, with whom Chavez had regular clashes.
