Mexico’s Celso Piña returns cumbia to Colombia

Mexican Celso Piña, the self-proclaimed rebel of the accordion, will return his cumbia to Colombia for a concert in Bogota on August 19.

The three senior cumbia artists are among the most respected accordion players in Latin America.

The 58-year old Piña in recent years collaborated with Mexican rock bands like Control Machete and El Gran Silencio to introduce his interpretation of Colombian cumbia for a younger Mexican audience.

The accordion player has also played with Venezuela’s Amigos Invisibles and Colombian band Aterciopelados.

Piña’s first concert in Bogota will take place at the Metro theater. Tickets are available online.
