Artists, chefs, designers, architects, writers, and publishers gathered with students and professionals in Bogota’s Chamber of Commerce for a week of creativity and collaboration in the first ever “Campus Colombias.”
The event, which began on Monday and culminates on Wednesday evening, is the
Participants in the conference enjoyed the expertise of “inspirers” or creative guides such as Spanish chef Ferran Adria, Colombian singer Toto la Momposina, and renowned architect Simon Velez who specializes in bamboo.
“We’re all creative,” said Ferran Adria, recognized as one of the worlds most talented and imaginative chefs. “It isn’t magic that comes from wizards. Wizards don’t exist. Continuous work exists. I’m a common man, I come from a common family… I didn’t finish university but now I’m a professor at Harvard. If I can achieve that, anyone can.”
Monday’s “Day of Inspiration” offered conferences, in the vein of the TED talk, “full of passion and concrete ideas from success stories” and creative development models in Colombia.
Ultimately, Campus Colombias, sought to provide a space for innovators to develop their projects in the context of a progressive dialogue on Colombia’s potential and to share and compare ideas with the world famous guests, all under the possibility that their projects will be exhibited, recognized, and perhaps celebrated.
