Camilo Villegas elected Colombian sportsman of the year

Golfer Camilo Villegas has been elected Colombian sportsman of the year
by newspaper El Espectador after a very successful season on the PGA
Tour.

To win the award, Villegas beat other nominees such as Olympic medal winners Diego Salazar (weights) and Jackeline Rentería (wrestling).

The now 26-year-old, born in Medellín, earned his first PGA title at the BMW Championship in September, after having finished near the top in previous tournaments. With that, he was the first Colombian to ever win a PGA tournament.

Not much later, the golfer also took the victory at The Tour Championship beating Spaniard Sergio García in a playoff.
