The massacre shocked Colombia in November 2013, when gunmen entered the popular nightclub “La Barra 44” and started shooting indiscriminately killing 9 people. The violent incident was linked to a dispute between local drug dealing gangs.

Police sources suggest the attack was ordered by the leader of local drug dealing gang los Rastrojos  alias El Buho, who sent his second in command alias Negro 8 to carry out the attack. Negro 8 was captured in June 2014 along with two other men.

The gunmen targeted local crime boss TK, leader of “La 40” in the busy nightclub in Comuna 12 in south east Cali.

The assassins were allegedly offered $1500 to carry out the attack, in which Uzi sub machine guns and pistols were used by 4 shooters who escaped on motorbikes.
