Bogota gearing up for half marathon

Five thousand people, including runners from 10 different countries, have registered for the Bogota Half Marathon in July and event organizers expect tens of thousands more.

Event organizers are expecting 45,000 participants from 25 countries in total for the event that began in Bogota 12 years ago reported newspaper El Espectador.

Registration for the 13.1 mile race in the capital city on July 31 will end the day before with prices increasing at different set dates until the final day of registration. A list of prices and dates can be found on the Bogota Half Marathon website, www.mediamaratonbogota.com.

Runners can register on the website or at the offices of Banco de Occidente de Bogota, La Federacion Colombiana de Atletismo, La Liga de Atletismo of Bogota and Asodimaster.
