Bogotana crowned Miss World Colombia 2011

Monica Restrepo has been chosen to represent Colombia in the 2011 Miss World contest to be held in England in November.

The Bogota contestant was elected in a ceremony held at the William Shakespeare Cultural Center of the Anglo-Colombian College. She beat out 26 other hopefuls, revealed online news site Terra.

In addition to the title of Miss World Colombia, Monica won the “most beautiful hair” award.

The lucky 21-year-old will travel on October 19 to London, where the 61st Miss World Competition will be hosted.

Among other titles, Monica will fight for the “Beauty with a Purpose” award, which “singles out and recognizes the Miss World Contestant who is shown to have made a real difference to people in need in her homeland.”

If Monica captures the “Beauty with a Purpose” title, she will receive a place in the semi-finals and a guarantee of continued financial support for her chosen cause in Colombia.

The Bogota queen announced that she will be supporting a foundation called Blue Heart, which campaigns against human trafficking.

The 2011 Miss World finals will air on November 6.

To win the Miss World title, the 5’7-foot beauty said she will use “security, a good runway, and of course my Latina features.”
