Bogota to host tango festival

Tango lovers in Colombia can enjoy nine days of the typical Argentine dance at the Gaitango festival in Bogota starting Friday.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Sport the second edition of the festival, which will take place from July 6 to 15 at the Jorge Gaitan theater and the Media Torta, pays homage to the “tango woman who seduces with her voice and her love.”

Among the artists performing at the festival are some of the most important singers in the history of tango, such as Dolores Sola, La Chicana and Soledad Villamill, singer and actress in the film “El secreto de sus ojos”. The stars will be performing for the first time in Colombia and will be accompanied by Maria Grana and the staff of Tango Sextet.

Also featuring at the festival is Gloria Acevedo, or Gloria Gardel, a Colombian artist who will be performing during a dance spectacle presented by the Foundation Piazzola and Argentine tango singer Simon Fahey.

The final presentation of the festival will take place on Sunday July 15 at the Jorge Gaitan theater with the presentation of the third International Tango Festival of Bogota, in partnership with Alma de Tango.

Prices range from $17 to $67.
