Bogota wins campaign to host global performing arts event

Colombia wins its campaign to host the world’s most important performing arts forum.

The 2014 International Society for the Performing Arts [ISPA] Congress, which draws together 350 experts in the field, will be held in Bogota following a successful campaign by the capital’s Convention Bureau and Colombian Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Sport.

The ISPA holds two conferences annually, meeting in New York every January and selecting another culturally significant location for the follow-up conference, held in June. The selection of Bogota for the 2014 event was made in New York on Monday.

Among the cities which have held the second conference in the past are London, Paris and Vienna. The event goes to South Korea this year and Poland in 2013.

The ISPA is an international non-profit organization which works to promote performing arts throughout the world.
