Bogota taxi drivers protest rising gas prices

Taxi drivers in Bogota have staged a protest against rising gas prices, RCN Radio reported Monday.

According to reports, taxi drivers blocked roads and caused traffic jams in different points around the capital city.

The protest started after Fredy Contreras, the leader of the public service taxi drivers, called for a protest at a rally Monday morning.

The demonstration comes a month after 300,000 cargo and public service vehicles refused to operate in protest of increading fuel prices.

oil prices are down from $142 a barrel in 2008 to $107 at present, but current gas prices in Colombia do not reflect this drop.
