Bogota prepares for international book fair


Colombia’s bookworms are getting ready for the 24th International Book Fair, which will be held in Bogota May 4-16.

The cultural and academic program is designed to entertain the whole family with exhibitions, conversations, book signings, education sessions, readings and concerts across all 13 days of the fair.

This year’s guest country, Ecuador, will bring two of its best writers Javier Vasconez and Gabriela Aleman to the event, as well as present cooking demonstrations, musical performances and art exhibitions on Ecuadorian culture.

The event, which hopes to draw over 400,000 visitors, will also present well known writers from around the world including Jostein Gaarder from Norway, Rafael Argullol and Santiago Posteguillo from Spain, Carl Honore from Canada and Alberto Manguel from Argentina, as well as many local Colombian authors.

Industry conferences will additionally be held in areas such as journalism, editorial marketing, scientific magazines, and illustration.
