Bogota police reports 900 Christmas eve brawls

Bogota police were called to attend 900 reports of brawls and fights during Christmas eve celebrations in Colombia’s capital.

Bogota police commissioner Luis Eduardo Martinez told Caracol Radio that four people were murdered on the evening that the majority of Colombians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

According to Martinez, most of the brawls were due to intolerance and excessive alcohol consumption.

On Christmas Day, Bogota police carry out the so-called “Anti-Hangover Plan” aimed to decrease alcohol-related public disturbances.
