Bogota police arrest woman with 10-foot boa constrictor

Bogota police on Wednesday arrested a woman carrying a 10-foot long boa constrictor around the streets of Colombia’s capital in her bag.

The unnamed woman had reportedly been using the serpent as a partner in a money making scheme, charging tourists to take pictures with the beast around the most crowded streets of Bogota.

According to Viviana Alvarado, the chief of Bogota’s Environmental and Ecological Police, the reptile “had surgical tape over the orifice it would normally use for personal feeding, preventing it from breathing, eating and drinking satisfactorily.”

The woman, who was arrested with her boa in the barrio of Bolivia, will now be charged with environmental crimes committed against the snake.
