The Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra was praised by audience and critics for its concerts in Moscow during the festival of World Symphony Orchestras, local media reported.
The debut of the orchestral group in Russia was “a resounding success,” said Enrique Arturo Diemecke, the orchestra’s director.
The ensemble concluded its participation in the 7th Russian music festival with a standing ovation and applause that lasted for fifteen minutes.
In the Hall of Columns, the Colombian orchestra performed six Latin American pieces on Tuesday, including the compositions of Adolfo Mejia, Jose Rozo Contreras and Alex Tobar. On Wednesday their performance introduced a universal repertoire, including works by Mahler and Respighi.
The Bogota Philharmonic, founded in 1967, is one of the most active orchestras in the Americas, with a schedule of 99 concerts per year.
The Bogota Philharmonic Colombia received a Grammy award for classical music in 2011.
