Bogota gets ready for Halloween

Bogota is gearing up for a weekend of diabolical debauchery and fiendish fiestas to celebrate this year’s Halloween.

Metro Theater is opening its big weekend with La Recontra, where the self-described “Bogotano society of music selectors” will mix tunes for the 1000 guests. Tickets are COP15,000 and punters are advised to arrive early to get a spot.

The place to be on Saturday night will surely be the festival of the dead (la fiesta de los muertos), which will see the Mexican Institute of Sound, Radio Rebelde and Toy Selectah dropping eerie vibes and beats at the Metro Theater.

The evening’s three acts will wow the crowd with every style imaginable, from mariachi-inspired chanson hip-hop to psychotic breaks to the ever-present ass-shaking reggaeton.

One of the electronic scene’s latest producers, Hacker, will fill the floors of the Las Vegas Nevada Club in what promoters are promising will be a never seen before set, with a 40,000 watt sound system. Tickets range from COP25,000-70,000

Club Mestizo Croos Deluxe is throwing a Justice League mash-up Saturday night. Wonderwomen and Catwomen will jiggle alongside grinding Batmen and Robins in an evening of DC comic madness. Tickets are COP10,000, or COP7,000 for those dressed appropriately.

Megaoutlet event center will play host to “goblins, monsters, fairies, jugglers, princesses and piñatas” rocking to the sounds of possibly the best DJ name I’ve ever heard, Jiggy Drama. Tickets to Jig D range from COP30,000 to COP70,000 for “platinum.”
