Bogota authorities deny violent weekend

Federal District authorities deny earlier reports that 25 people were killed in Bogota over the past weekend.

According to Government Secretary Clara Lopez Obregon, only 17 murders took place over the weekend.

On Tuesday, the investigative unit of the prosecution reported that 15 people were shot, 8 were stabbed to death and the violent death of two girls was still investigated.

But according to the government, only two people were stabbed to death.

It happens regularly that government authorities and judicial authorities in Bogota come with different numbers regarding crime in the city.
