Beyonce will bring her live world tour to Medellin in September.
According to newspaper El Tiempo, the event will be held at the Atanasio Giradot stadium on September 22 with tickets on sale from August 1 priced between $30 and $250.
“For this concert we expect 44,000 people at the Atanasio Giradot stadium. Two scheduled football matches have been moved to allow time for the production and infrastructure to be put in place,” organizer Fernan Martinez told El Tiempo.
“It’s the number one show in the world at this time. We will have a mix of local and international productions,” the organizer added.
According to El Tiempo, Beyonce’s arrival was preceded by long and complex negotiations, with the final details agreed on Monday.
Martinez told El Tiempo that Colombia is now a prime destination for concerts around the world.
“The phenomenon began with Madonna and Lady Gaga. Now in addition to Beyonce we have teen idols Justin Bieber and One Direction.”
The Mayor of Medellin, Anibal Gaviria, expressed his delight at Beyonce’s arrival on twitter, “Medellin continues to consolidate as the capital of the most important international events.”
