The chief of staff to ex-President Alvaro Uribe, Bernardo Moreno, is called as a witness in an investigation against the politician’s son Tomas Uribe, Caracol Radio reported Thursday.
Along with Moreno, the prosecutor for the anti-corruption unit has also called former vice minister of the interior Fernando Angarita and the former commissioner of Tunja, Uriel Francisco Bonilla Correa.
After completion of this stage, the prosecutor will determine whether or not to file charges against the former president’s son.
The Supreme Court ordered the investigation of Tomas Uribe late last year after he was accused of paying bribes to officials to secure his father’s re-election in 2006.
Moreno was barred from public office for 18 years in October 2010 for his involvement in the illegal wiretapping of opponents during Alvaro Uribe’s tenure as president.
