Colombian model-turned-narco claims she was set up

Colombian model-turned-narcotics trafficker Angie Sanclemente, who is being held in an Argentine prison, maintains her innocence and claims she is the victim of a conspiracy against her.

In an interview with W Radio, Sanclemente said that all of the proof accusing her of drug trafficking “has been a set-up” and that it’s all a “misunderstanding.”

She explained that the voice that appears in one of the conversations that police have recorded is her supposedly talking with the “uncle of her boyfriend” but that it’s not her voice.

“In one of the conversations I am telling the uncle of my boyfriend to pass me the telephone, but it’s not my voice,” said the model.

Ms. Sanclemente also denied allegations that she is married to Mexican drug trafficker alias “Monstruo” and also rejected claims that she is the contact between the gangster and Argentine narcotics sellers.

“There are no records of me marrying a Mexican gangster, there are no records. (In Mexico,) I had to take out a loan to have a car. When they arrested me (in Argentina) I only had seven dollars in my pocket. How is a ‘narco-model’ able to have so little money?” she said.

The Colombian beauty also said that the drug trafficking gang that she is accused of running was comprised of “the uncle of my boyfriend, my boyfriend, and my boyfriend’s friend,” and that she was considering suing the Argentine authorities for her wrongful arrest.

Sanclemente, a former winner of the Colombia Coffee Queen pageant, was arrested in Buenos Aires earlier this year for allegedly running a drug smuggling ring with the help of models who snuck the drugs onto international airplane flights from Argentina to Europe.

The smuggling network was busted when one of her “angels” was busted at Buenos Aires’ airport with 55Kg of cocaine in her suitcase.

Sanclemente has continuously maintained her innocence.
