Avianca opens San Salvador-Bogota flight

Colombia’s largest airline Avianca Wednesday inaugurated a new direct route linking the Colombian capital Bogota with the El Salvadorean capital San Salvador.

The flight, the only direct one between the two cities, will have connections to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, and New York in the United States, and Toronto in Canada. Connections will also be available for passengers in San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa in Honduras.

According to La Prensa, Colombia was keen to open the flight because, due to its strained relationship with neighbor Venezuela, it is interested in opening up new markets in the Central America region.
