Authorities thwart ELN planned Independence Day attack

Authorities seized explosives from guerrilla group ELN, who were planning to use the ammunition for terrorist attacks during Colombian Independence Day celebrations on July 20, El Espectador reported Wednesday.

The DAS, the Colombian intelligence agency, announced that they had confiscated 24 barrels of anfo, 18 barrels of Indugel and 18 barrels of black gun powder.

The explosives were reportedly found in a farm house in the municipality of Belen, in the department of Boyaca. El Espectador reported they belonged to the Adonai Ardila Pinilla front of the ELN.
