Authorities seize US$1 billion from crimes

Colombia authorities have seized almost US$1 billion from drug
traffickers, paramilitaries, guerrillas and organized crimes in the
last eleven years, La W radio reported Friday.

The police, the CTI, the DAS, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force also seized US$301 million and €18 million, according to a document known by La W.

In the last two years, the forfeiture unit of the Prosecutor General’s office and the police confiscated 5600 properties allegedly purchased with money derived from drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortion and other crimes.

The confiscated money and properties are held by the National Narcotics Department.
