Authorities seize assets of Bogota mayor

Colombia’s Comptroller General ordered the seizure of assets of Bogota mayor Samuel Moreno, who is investigated for corruption.

Comptroller General Sandra Morelli also ordered the investigation of Bogota’s former mayor Luis Eduardo Garzon.

The mayor and his predecessor are suspected of corruption in the granting of work on mass transit system Transmilenio to the Nule Group.

The Comptroller General’s Office also seizes the wages of Moreno.

The Bogota mayor is investigated by several judicial and financial bodies for allegedly having received commissions for the granting of public works to the disgraced Nule Group.

In a response, Moreno said the seizure of his assets is a mistake.
