Authorities investigate possible links between public forces and Medellin criminal bands

Colombian Prosecutor General Viviane Morales said that members of the country’s public forces are being investigated for suspected ties with criminal bands in some parts of the Antioquian city Medellin.

Morales said that those under investigation include members of the investigative government body she belongs to.

“It is sad to accept it, but yes, we are investigating some policemen, but not just them, also employees of the CTI [Technical Investigation Team] and the Prosecutor General’s Office,” the prosecutor said at a symposium on victims’ aid, Caracol Radio reported Friday.

Morales did not reveal the names of those under investigation, nor the number of people being investigated, but said that results are expected very soon.
