Police arrested 47 suspected illegal miners in an offensive in the north of Colombia, authorities said Thursday.
Operation Dorado VI was carried out in the north of the Antioquia department and south of the Cordoba department.
In the offensive, police also seized 1,510 gallons of petrol and 102 pounds of mecury used for the mining of gold.
A total of 106 illegally operated mines were discovered in the region.
According to Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos, illegal mining has become one of the main sources of income for illegal groups like the FARC.
