Atletico Nacional victorious in Copa Libertadores

Colombian soccer team Atletico Nacional won 2-0 against Universidad de Chile in the Copa Libertadores Tuesday.

The deadlock at Atletico’s Atanasio Giradot Stadium was broken in the 28th minute by a thunderbolt shot from Juan David Valencia, who later went off injured. While Universidad continually threatened to get back in to the game, it was eventually wrapped up in the 81st minute by a goal from Dorlan Pabon.

The victory marked a triumphant return for the Medellin-based giants, who have not featured in South America’s most prestigious competition since 2008.

Atletico Nacional’s next Group 8 game is on February 21, away to Uruguayan team Peñarol.
