Army kills 11 ELN guerrillas in combat

Eleven guerrillas from the ELN rebel group were killed and one injured in an attack by Colombia’s air force in the eastern department of , the army announced Friday.

The commander of the army’s 8th Division told Caracol Radio that the ELN guerrillas were killed in a bombardment on Thursday near the town of Saravena, five miles from the Venezuelan border.

The army, sent into the area after the bombardment, found amongst the dead one injured guerrillas and arms left behind by the rebels.
