Army halts ‘terrorist actions’ in southern Colombia

The Colombian army said Thursday that several “terrorist actions” allegedly committed by the  FARC and others have been “neutralized” in southern Colombia, newspaper El Espectador reported.

According to the army, two landmines allegedly planted by the FARC’s 48th Front in the southwestern department of Putomayo were deactivated, while another presumed member of the same front accused of “financing terrorism” was captured.

Furthermore, the army claimed to have found and destroyed three explosives devices belonging to the FARC’s 49th front in the southern department of Caqueta.

A further two unidentified people were arrested for the “manufacture, trafficking and carrying of firearms and ammunition” in the same department.

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old man was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, also in Caqueta, reported the Colombian army.
