Armed men rob girls’ school

Students and parents of a girls’ school in east Bogota are terrified after a group of heavily armed men seized the school and robbed students buying books for the coming semester.

The group of ten men, armed with guns, entered the school around noon on Saturday and forced students, teachers and parents to lie down while members of the gang robbed all present of their money. According to victims, members of the gang threatened to kill anyone who looked up or refused to cooperate.

In a press release sent to local media, the school said that the massive robbery will not affect the start of the school year on Monday, but that a special mass will be held in solidarity with the victims.

National Police director General Oscar Naranjo said there will be a reward for information leading to the arrest of the assailants.
