Arias asks allies to support Sanin for president

Colombian former Agriculture Minister Andres Felipe Arias has called on his political allies to support the campaign of Conservative Party presidential candidate Noemi Sanin, reports El Espectador.

Arias, who was beaten by Sanin in the Conservative Party’s primary elections earlier in March, appealed to his allies in government to support the former ambassador’s bid for the presidency.

“I solicit all the parliamentarians who accompanied me in my electoral journey to accompany Doctor Noemi Sanin Posada in her campaign to be president of the nation,” said Arias.

According to W Radio, the former minister said that any member of the Conservative Party who does not show support for Sanin is showing “weakness.”

In an earlier interview with Caracol Radio, Arias said that he is “Conservative to the core” and that he is dedicated to continuing the policies of Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.
