Annual Vallenato Festival kicks off

The 45th annual Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata will kick off in Bogota with two concerts on March 16 and 17.

The festival was established over 40 years ago in order to celebrate and preserve Colombia’s traditional literature and music. This year’s festival will pay homage to the great vallenato maestro Antonio Calixto Ochoa with a variety of concerts through March and April.

The series will begin with a concert by the classic Gustavo Gutierrez Cabello and a show by the children’s choir from the Rafael Escalona Martinez School Vallenato School the weekend after next.

The concerts will take place in the Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo Theater at 8:00PM on Friday March 16 and Saturday March 17. The tickets will cost between $15 (30,000COP) and $40 (80,000COP) and can be purchased on the ticket website Tuboleta.
