Uribe tweet leads to investigations against supreme court judge

A recent complaint from former President Alvaro Uribe’s twitter page triggered investigations against Supreme Court Judge Augusto Ibañez, reported El Espectador Monday.

Uribe accused German Vargas Lleras of using his position to influence the votes in favor of Agusto Ibañez for Supreme Court judge.

On June 22nd, Uribe tweeted: “Is it true that you promoted influences for Augusto Ibañez to be named to the Supreme Court?(…) Yesterday (Tuesday) I talked on the radio about possible influences of Vargas Lleras in the vote for Ibañez.I received no response from the accused officials,” said Uribe.

On Monday, members of the Colombian House’s Investigation and Accusation Committee initiated an investigation against the judge of the Supreme Court.

Members of the Committee on Accusations of the House of Representatives reported that the agency decided to initiate an investigation against the judge of the Supreme Court, Augusto Ibáñez.
