56 injured in 2 separate Bogota bus accidents

Two separate bus accidents in Colombia’s capital Bogota left 56 people injured Tuesday.

The accidents occurred minutes apart and few blocks from each other.

The most serious of the two accidents, injuring 43 people, occurred in the rush time before eight o’clock in the morning. According to trafic police commander, the bus failed to keep a safe distance, when it failed to stop in time to avoid crashing into another bus in the TransMilenio service.

A hospital official quoted in newspaper El Pais said that “none of the injured have serious injuries.” Of the 43 injured in this accident 33 were women, the majority suffering only from bruises.

Only blocks away and shortly after, another bus in the TransMilenio service crashed into another bus. In this accident 13 people were injured, including a pregnant woman. No serious injuries were reported in this accident either.
