Truckers block Bogota roads

Colombian truckers have been blocking important roads in the capital Bogota since Monday afternoon to put pressure on the government to meet their demands regarding minimum freight rates.

The Bogota action adds to a national strike called by the Colombian Truckers Association (ACC) almost two weeks ago over the government’s decision to end minimum freight rates.

According to employers in the transport sector, the strike has already cost Colombia $140 million. Talks with the government to lift the strike have so far failed.
