Legal action will be taken against a student who offered cocaine to her classmates during a presentation at The National University in Bogota.
Education Minister Cecilia Maria Velez, said that it is necessary that students present recount what happened during the artistic presentation of a Cuban student, Tania Bruguera.
Minister Velez said that artist Bruguera would be questioned about what she was looking for when she offered three platters of cocaine to her classmates.
“We must look to strengthen what may be the anti-drug programs of the universities,” the Minister said, before adding, “this makes me very scared.”
The University is investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, the Minister stressed that “this is somewhat atypical because drug transactions are [usually] done in secret within universities.”
The investigation will also focus on whether 32 million pesos in funds given by the Ministry of Culture (US$16,000) were misappropriated to the purchase and supply of cocaine.
